This bridge over the River Deveron linking Banff and Macduff dates from 1779 and replaced an earlier one that had been swept away by a flood. Principal engineer for the construction was John Smeaton (1724-1792) The bridge was widened in 1881. The bridge carries a considerable amount of traffic, so much so that recently a study was undertaken to test local reaction for possible improvement. Amongst the schemes mooted were a footbridge to the north of the existing bridge that would enable pedestrians and cyclists to cross the river away from the traffic that at times seems to threaten the narrow walkways on the road bridge

Macduff - Banffs neighbour
Although this is Macduff Harbour it qualifies for the 'Blog' because it shows a Banff registered fishing boat - there's always a way!
Macduff is just across the River Deveron estuary to the east of Banff. It's a nice place. The harbour area is well worth a visit. Maybe not as busy as in it's heyday but there's plenty going on.
I like this place.

Shipyard seems to be doing ok and that has to be good news for the local economy.
I like this place.

More Snow in Banff
This is the A98 out of Banff heading west yesterday
The weather is preventing me getting out and taking more photographs
I have noted the fantastic efforts by the teams clearing the snow. They are working flat out against the elements and are to be commended. They are certainly doing the best they can with the available resources
